Krystal and Pat’s Annapolis wedding was a joyful, heartfelt celebration filled with meaningful details, waterfront charm, and one especially unforgettable design element: butterflies woven throughout the day. From their ceremony at St. Mary’s Church to their reception at Chart House Annapolis, every part of their wedding reflected their love for family, their hometown, and the people who mean the most to them.
Krystal and I first met at a local coffee shop, and from the start, her excitement for wedding planning was contagious. At the time, she and Pat had only secured their wedding date at the beautiful St. Mary’s Church in Annapolis, but Krystal already had a clear vision for a day that would feel personal, vibrant, and deeply centered on their guests.
As Annapolis natives, Krystal and Pat wanted to bring all of their favorite people together in the town they love most. After exploring venue options, we found the perfect waterfront setting for their reception at Chart House, a classic Annapolis waterfront wedding venue known for its views and incredible food. Their menu featured seafood favorites like king crab, snow crab, sushi, and raw oysters, along with a range of options to make sure every guest felt cared for. More than one guest said it was one of the best wedding meals they had ever had.
One of the most memorable threads throughout the day was the butterfly motif. Krystal had always loved butterflies, and once that detail surfaced during the planning process, it became a meaningful part of the wedding design. What started as inspiration quickly turned into one of the most distinctive visual elements of the celebration.
Florist Stacy Bowen brought that vision to life beautifully. After I reached out to her about a butterfly cake design she had collaborated on with Cakes by Jason during a styled shoot, we also brought her on as the florist for Krystal and Pat’s wedding. She created floral designs that felt romantic, whimsical, and full of movement. One of the most magical details was the greenery hanging at the grand entrance to the reception. On the wedding day, Stacy added butterflies into the installation as a surprise, creating a moment that felt incredibly personal when Krystal arrived and looked up to see them.
The butterfly details continued throughout the celebration, appearing in the wedding invitations, seating chart, and place cards. Every detail felt cohesive without losing its charm. Kassy at Paper in the Park handcrafted the place cards and assembled the invitation suite, helping tie the entire design story together.
Beyond the design, the day was full of emotional and unforgettable moments. Stacey Lee Photography captured Krystal surprising her father by wearing her mother’s wedding gown, a deeply sentimental choice that added another layer of meaning to the day. It was one of many moments that reflected how much heart was woven into the celebration.
The reception energy was just as memorable. Krystal and Pat’s choreographed first dance completely wowed their guests and set the tone for the night ahead. From there, District Remix kept the dance floor packed and the momentum high, even getting members of the back-of-house team from Chart House out on the dance floor. The entire evening felt lively, generous, and full of joy.
And, in a detail that perfectly matched her personality, Krystal had three outfit changes throughout the celebration: her traditional gown, which carried family significance, and two fun reception jumpsuits that brought even more personality to the night.
Krystal and Pat’s waterfront Annapolis wedding was a beautiful reflection of who they are: thoughtful, fun-loving, guest-focused, and deeply connected to the people around them. From the butterfly-inspired design details to the waterfront reception and unforgettable dance floor, every part of the day felt full of meaning and celebration.
